Command and Express
This worksheet is divided into two parts: students are asked to write three imperative sentences that a teacher might say and three sentences with interjections to describe the second picture. The purpose is to highlight two types of exclamatory sentences – commands and interjections. This exercise aims to help students identify different ways of expressing urgency or excitement in sentences.
By exploring imperative sentences and interjections, students learn to distinguish between commands and expressive statements. The worksheet strengthens their understanding of sentence purpose and tone, as well as the importance of voice in writing. Recognizing different sentence types also builds critical thinking skills, as students must choose language that accurately conveys context. This practice reinforces their ability to use punctuation to affect a reader’s interpretation.
