Home Lost Open Response
*”Vanishing Home”* focuses on how the destruction of the Truffula Forest affects the animals who live there. The Once-ler’s factory pollutes the environment, and creatures like the Bar-ba-loots, Swomee-Swans, and Humming-Fish lose their homes. As the Once-ler refuses to stop, the forest becomes lifeless. Realizing too late, he gives the last seed to a child with hope for restoration.
Students practice empathy and inference as they consider the impact of environmental harm on animals. This worksheet enhances reading comprehension through descriptive passages and environmental vocabulary. It encourages drawing conclusions from text and identifying main ideas. It also reinforces the importance of reading literature with emotional and ecological themes.
