Sentence Builder
Students take simple sentences and rewrite them so they include a compound predicate. They must add another action for the same subject, usually using a conjunction such as and. This encourages students to expand a basic sentence by including more than one verb.
Rewriting and expanding sentences helps students practice building more complex and expressive writing. Instead of writing short, simple sentences, they learn to combine actions and add details. This strengthens grammar knowledge, improves sentence fluency, and helps students communicate ideas more clearly in their writing.
