Adjective Classifier
This worksheet asks students to read sentences and determine whether the adjectives used are coordinate or cumulative. Each sentence includes two descriptive words modifying the same noun, and students must decide whether the adjectives can be rearranged or joined with and, which signals coordinate adjectives. If the adjectives rely on a specific order to make sense, they are cumulative.
Analyzing sentences in this way helps students recognize how adjectives function within a phrase. By learning to distinguish between coordinate and cumulative adjectives, students strengthen their understanding of word order, descriptive language, and punctuation. This improves reading comprehension and helps students write clearer, more precise descriptions in their own sentences.
