Underline and Understand
Students must read each sentence, identify, and underline the idiom within it, such as “take a raincheck” or “spill the beans.” This task develops their ability to recognize idioms in context. It focuses on both recognition and comprehension of idiomatic expressions. The activity is designed to make students comfortable with identifying idioms in everyday text.
Recognizing idioms in sentences strengthens reading comprehension and improves students’ ability to analyze language in context. It also enhances attention to detail and boosts literary fluency. Understanding idioms as part of larger sentences prepares students for more advanced reading and interpretive skills.
