Speech Bubbles
In this activity, students write an imperative sentence inside each speech bubble, imagining commands that characters might say based on the visuals. Each image depicts a person in a specific situation, prompting students to craft a relevant command, such as “Fix that nail” or “Stop right there.” This setup combines imaginative thinking with language structuring. By filling the speech bubbles, students engage in creating dialogue that fits each character’s context.
Writing dialogue in response to visual prompts develops contextual language skills and creative expression. This task enhances communication skills by asking students to consider what command best suits each scenario. Using speech bubbles also introduces students to dialogue formatting, which is helpful for narrative writing. The exercise fosters problem-solving abilities as students think about how to convey clear and purposeful instructions in each scene.
