Character Q&A
The “Interviewer” worksheet invites students to ask questions they would like to pose to a character in the book, then predict how that character might respond. This requires students to think deeply about a character’s motives, emotions, and personality traits. They are encouraged to choose questions that would provide deeper insights into the story or character development. This task promotes empathy and comprehension by having students “step into the shoes” of a character.
This activity fosters empathy and character analysis as students contemplate a character’s potential responses. By predicting answers, students develop inferential comprehension skills, using textual clues to deduce information about personality and motivations. Creating questions builds critical thinking and enhances creative thinking by encouraging students to approach characters as if they are real individuals. It also nurtures communication skills through formulating thoughtful and insightful questions.
